Michael Rink studied medicine at the University of Münster and did his residency at the Department of Urology at University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Germany. He is currently completing an uro-oncologic research fellowship at the Brady Urologic Center of the Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York, NY, USA. His main scientific areas of interest comprise urothelial carcinoma of the upper and lower tract as well as prostate cancer. In these fields he combines research on basic biologic and prognostic markers with translational outcomes. He is a reviewer for several urologic journals and became a member of the European Urology Editorial Board at Large in January 2012.
